Fat Burning Zone Myth
Although labeled on nearly every workout guide you might find in the gym, the infamous fat burning zone is based on a mistake, and you should ignore it if you want to get fit and lose weight. The mistake is a misinterpretation of the sports science: When we exercise some the energy is burned from carbohydrates, some from fats. At lower intensity levels a greater proportion of energy is burned from fats, and because of this the fat burning zone became widely recommended.
However, this completely ignores the fact that exercising at this lower level will burn LESS calories in total, therefore having a smaller fitness and weight loss effect. My advice is, when you train, ignore the easy tempo of the fat burning zone and push the pace so you work hard.
