Christmas Eating
It is no surprise that research shows in the UK most people completely overeat during the festive season. One study found the most greedy members of our population may consume up to 7000 kcal on Christmas Day alone. This is around 5000 kcal more than daily requirements, which will put on 1.5 lbs. of fat in one day!!
The difficulty is how to balance enjoying oneself and not gaining excess fat which can be hard to lose long term. One suggestion comes from one of our clients, who is currently adopting an eating tactic that involves eating most things she wants, but only ever having a half portion.
For example, when you serve Christmas dinner – don’t completely load your plate, just have a normal sized dinner. When its time for desserts and chocolates, don’t deny yourself, but just have a very small amount.
Remember, alcohol comes packed with calories and so a prolonged spell of boozing will boost your calorie intake, without any extra food, chocolates or cakes.
