Boost Your Immune System
September is the first month in which colds and flu can go round schools and offices.
All of us come into contact with the bugs, but those of us with strong immune systems have less risk of becoming ill.
The following is a list of proven methods of boosting your immune defenses.
1. Eat varied and nutritious foods: Green, yellow and red fruits and vegetables, lean proteins like fish and chicken and foods high in essential fatty acids, such as pumpkin seeds, oily fish and nuts.
2. Supplement your diet with antioxidants and Echinacea: Maintenance of an efficient immune system is dependant on the intake of vitamins A, C and E and minerals zinc and selenium. Echinacea is one of the most researched herbs available with many studies showing its active immune boosting properties. (Order Echinacea £5.95 + P&P and A-Z Multi £6.50 from us with your card number and postcode and they will arrive in the post within two days. What could be easier?)
3. Wash your hands regularly: Keeping clean is vital for avoiding bugs. Avoiding touching your mouth, nose and eyes is related to this and also important.
4. Relax: Psychophysiologucal studies show the close link between the immune system and emotional stress. Regular Cardiovascular exercise, ensuring you get some quality \"downtime\" and including relaxing activities such as yoga or massage in your routine can help you stay healthy as well as reduce stress.
