Neal is a fully qualified and experienced fitness
professional working with individuals, groups
and teams of all fitness levels and varying
goals in Central and South London.
Qualifications
He went to Christ Church University in Canterbury
and studied Sports Science when it was still
a relatively new degree and covered Anatomy,
Physiology, Training Methods, Sport Psychology
to name just a few modules. After discovering
the depths to which sport, health and fitness
can be studied, coupled with a strong interest
in playing sport and keeping fit, a career in
the fitness industry was inevitable! Every year
it is necessary for to update his knowledge
with Continuing Professional Development courses.
He has picked up several of these over the years.
Memberships and Insurance
Neal is a member of and has a close working
relationship with the National Register of Personal
Trainers (NRPT). This is often the first port
of call for clients looking for a trainer, and
the most recognized body of Personal Trainers
in this country. You can also find Neal on the
Register of Exercise Professional (REPs), which
is rapidly becoming the unofficial governing
body in what is a largely unregulated industry!
Neal has been given a Level 3 trainer status
which is currently the highest grade on offer.
He is also fully covered by Indemnity Insurance
provided by Perkins Slade.
Experience
After working part time in the university gym,
his first full time fitness role was at Esporta
Plc as gym instructor and personal trainer.
It took just a year at Esporta to take the plunge
and go self employed, managing to drag away
a handful of clients along for the ride. Two
years ago he set up 'The Tonic' with a business
partner which had the aim of providing clients
around London and the South East with quality
personal trainers they had had met through networking.
The Tonic is still going strong however Neal
left in 2004 recently to concentrate fully on
his own client base, which is extensive and
well established over the last 4 years. He still
has influence over other personal trainers and
is involved in his and their ongoing education
as well as contributing to the national press
regularly.
Interests
Rugby is Neal's sport of choice and he has been
playing for 14 years through school, university
and now a London league club. He has played
and has experience of most sports that come
to mind but rugby is the favoured punishment!
Neal regularly weight trains, runs in 5km and
10km's and as you can expect keeps himself current
and up to date on all methods of fitness training.
